The Ghana Police Service is investigating the killing of 50-year-old car dealer Kwasi Rahman, who was shot outside his home at Beach Drive Estate near Tuba on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Fresh details emerged on Friday as Rahman’s grieving relatives called for the perpetrator’s immediate arrest and residents raised concerns about security within the estate.
Shooting Occurred Outside Rahman’s Home
According to eyewitnesses, gunfire was heard at about 9:50 p.m. Neighbors who rushed outside reportedly found Rahman lying unresponsive near the entrance gate of his residence.
The attack allegedly occurred as Rahman and his wife returned from an evening walk. The assailant reportedly opened fire before fleeing without attracting immediate attention.
Rahman died at the scene. His wife, who had recently returned from Canada to celebrate his 50th birthday, sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the attack.
She was transported to an undisclosed hospital, where she remains in critical condition under emergency medical care.
Police Begin Forensic Investigation
Police officers visited the estate and conducted a preliminary examination of the crime scene as part of efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Rahman’s body was subsequently taken to the police morgue for preservation and an official autopsy.
Investigators are expected to examine available forensic evidence, speak with residents and identify possible witnesses who may have seen unusual activity around the estate before or after the incident.
The motive for the attack and the identity of the assailant have not yet been publicly established.
Family Appeals for Swift Justice
Relatives of the deceased have appealed to the Ghana Police Service to commit the necessary resources to the investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Speaking to media organizations, including Citi News and Channel One TV, family members expressed grief over Rahman’s death and demanded a thorough investigation into the attack.
Residents Demand Improved Security
The killing has heightened anxiety among residents of Beach Drive Estate and surrounding communities in the Ga South Municipality.
Some homeowners have described the estate’s existing private security arrangements as inadequate and are calling for urgent improvements. They have also requested regular police patrols to deter criminal activity and provide greater protection for residents.
The police investigation remains ongoing as Rahman’s family awaits answers and his injured wife continues to receive medical treatment.
