The second batch of Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruits reported to their assigned training centers on Friday, October 23, 2026, to commence a six-month Basic Military Training course.
Their arrival marks the beginning of an intensive program designed to prepare them for service in the Armed Forces. According to the GAF Department of Public Relations, the training will emphasize discipline, professionalism and the core values expected of military personnel.
The recruits have been distributed among the Army Recruit Training School, Air Force Recruit Training School, Navy Recruit Training School, Armor Training School and Army Special Operations Training School.
During the course, they will study foundational military subjects and undertake practical exercises intended to build their knowledge, physical fitness and readiness for service.
Fieldcraft and map reading form part of the curriculum, equipping recruits with essential skills for navigating and operating in the field. They will also receive instruction in weapon handling and drill as part of their introduction to military procedures.
Physical training and endurance exercises will be central to the program. These activities are intended to develop the fitness and resilience required to meet the demands of military duties.
The recruits will also undergo first aid instruction and tactical survival training, broadening the practical skills needed to respond to challenging situations.
Beyond these technical and physical components, the six-month course will focus on the standards of behavior and responsibility associated with military service. The program aims to develop recruits into disciplined servicemen and servicewomen capable of carrying out their assigned duties professionally.
The latest intake now begins this preparation across the designated institutions, with training centered on establishing a common foundation for service within the Ghana Armed Forces.
