The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested six suspected members of an organized street and armed robbery syndicate believed to be operating in Kumasi and surrounding communities.
The intelligence-led operation was conducted by the Regional Anti-Armed Robbery Unit following investigations into several reported attacks across Kaase, Ahinsan Estate, Santasi New Site, Bronikrom and Kwadaso Estate.
Those arrested have been identified as 23-year-old Philip Nyarko, also known as “Kawawa”; Hadi Samed, alias “Toronto,” aged 20; 23-year-old Issahaku Musah, also known as “Isak”; and Suraj Mohammed, alias “Baba Nde” or “Trouble,” aged 27.
The remaining suspects are Hadi Abdul Majeed, also known as “Panie,” aged 23, and 45-year-old Foster Owusu Afriyie, alias “Joe Fraizer.”
Police also arrested Augustine Agyemang Duah for allegedly assisting the group by unlocking smartphones believed to have been stolen during robbery operations.
Meanwhile, the Command has launched a manhunt for six other suspects linked to the alleged syndicate. They have been identified only as Abdul Shattar, Andy, Umaru, Dauda, Malik and Abdul Farouk.
According to the police, Philip Nyarko, Hadi Samed and Abdul Shattar had previously been arrested on December 6, 2025, in connection with robbery and attempted robbery cases.
They were later granted bail by Asokwa Circuit Court 1 while their trial remained pending. Police allege that the suspects subsequently resumed criminal activities.
Several items were retrieved during the latest operation, including two motorcycles, two machetes, knives, an iPhone 13, five keypad phones, laptops and 33 assorted mobile phones.
Investigators are working to establish whether the recovered items are connected to the reported robberies and to identify their rightful owners.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has asked people who lost mobile phones and other personal belongings during robberies in the affected communities to report to the station and assist with the identification process.
Police say investigations are continuing as preparations are made to prosecute the suspects.
The public has also been encouraged to provide credible information that could assist officers in locating the six individuals currently at large.
The arrested persons remain suspects and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
