Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has called on political leaders to exercise caution in their public statements, warning that careless remarks can create unnecessary speculation and deepen internal party tensions.
Speaking on the programme Good Morning Ghana, Mr Dankwah stressed the importance of consistency in political communication, especially when dealing with sensitive issues.
According to him, politicians need to “stick to the same script” in order to avoid confusion and the spread of rumours among supporters and the general public.
His comments come amid renewed discussions surrounding the 2023 reshuffle of the Minority leadership in Parliament by Johnson Asiedu Nketia, a move that led to the appointment of Cassiel Ato Forson and other senior members to key leadership positions.
Mr Dankwah noted that the reshuffle was viewed by some supporters at the time as heavy-handed, with many questioning whether the changes were necessary.
He explained that the absence of broad consensus around the decision sparked intense debate within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the party could have secured wider support for the decision if there had been a more coordinated and consistent message following the announcement.
Mr Dankwah also referenced recent comments made by Haruna Iddrisu during a thank-you tour, saying the remarks appeared to reopen discussions about the earlier leadership reshuffle and hinted at unresolved tensions within the party.
He therefore urged political figures to be more deliberate and disciplined with their public comments, particularly during campaign tours and major political engagements.
“People pay attention to every word you say and a verbal mistake can follow you for a long time,” he cautioned.
