Superstars of Real Madrid duo could return to face Manchester City at Etihad Stadium

Mbappe

Real Madrid could be without two of its biggest stars, Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham, for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Manchester City scheduled for March 11, 2026.

Mbappé is currently recovering from a left knee injury that has troubled him since December. Although his recovery is progressing well, the club is following a planned three-week recovery timeline, making it unlikely for him to feature in the first leg. The French forward is instead targeting a return for the second leg at the Etihad Stadium on March 17.

Bellingham is also dealing with an injury after suffering a hamstring tear in the semitendinosus muscle in February. Initial estimates suggested the English midfielder could be sidelined until late March or even April. However, his recovery has improved following advanced biomechanical treatment, raising hopes that he could return in time for the away match in Manchester.

Real Madrid’s medical staff are closely monitoring both players as the club prepares for the crucial Champions League tie, with hopes that the two stars will be fit for the decisive second leg.
