The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of an unidentified man at the forecourt of the assembly’s premises.
The incident, which occurred on the morning of Friday, June 19, 2026, attracted the attention of assembly staff, traders, and members of the public, many of whom gathered at the scene after the man suddenly collapsed.
Eyewitnesses Describe Sudden Collapse
According to eyewitness accounts, the man appeared to be in distress moments before he unexpectedly fell unconscious near the entrance of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
Several witnesses told local media that they observed an unidentified substance coming from the man’s mouth shortly before he collapsed. However, authorities have not confirmed the nature of the substance or whether it was related to the cause of death.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Emergency Responders Pronounce Man Dead
Concerned bystanders quickly alerted emergency services, prompting personnel from the National Ambulance Service to respond to the scene.
Despite their rapid arrival, medical personnel determined that the man had already died before they could administer treatment.
The area was subsequently secured while police officers and officials from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly began preliminary investigations.
Identity Yet to Be Established
Authorities have disclosed that the deceased was not carrying any form of identification, making it difficult to immediately establish his identity or notify relatives.
The body has since been transported to a local morgue, where it will be preserved pending an official autopsy aimed at determining the exact cause of death.

The Ghana Police Service and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly are continuing their inquiries into the incident and have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.
