The Ghana Armed Forces has released appointment letters to the first batch of successful applicants selected for the 2025/2026 military recruitment exercise, marking the beginning of the next training cycle for new personnel.

According to the military, the first group consists of 2,000 recruits and represents the initial batch of four groups expected to undergo training in 2026. Selected candidates were directed to report to their respective regional selection centres on March 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to collect their official appointment letters and prospectuses outlining training requirements.

All recruits in the first batch are scheduled to report to their assigned training centres on March 27, 2026, where they will begin their formal military training as part of the induction process into the armed forces.

For the first time, the distribution of appointment letters was carried out across all 16 regional capitals in Ghana. Military officials said the move was designed to reduce travel costs and logistical difficulties for applicants who would otherwise have had to travel long distances to collect their documents.

The batch also includes special consideration for individuals affected by the tragic stampede at El-Wak Stadium in November 2025. Eighteen applicants who were injured during the incident were included in the intake, along with five candidates sponsored by families of victims who lost their lives in the tragedy.

All selected recruits successfully passed a rigorous multi-stage recruitment process that began on November 6, 2025. The process included physical body selection exercises, aptitude tests, medical examinations, and security background checks before final selection.

The recruitment forms part of the government’s broader plan to expand the Ghana Armed Forces. Authorities aim to recruit a total of 12,000 personnel between 2025 and 2028 to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and operational readiness.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces has cautioned the public to rely only on official communication channels for recruitment information. The military emphasized that official announcements are published on its official website and in state-owned media outlets such as the Daily Graphic. Officials warned applicants to disregard recruitment offers circulating on social media that claim to provide “protocol” or preferential entry into the military, noting that the armed forces do not conduct recruitment through such channels.
