John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, has officially welcomed Terrance Michael Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, to the Jubilee House in Accra.
Prime Minister Drew’s official visit, which runs from March 3 to March 7, 2026, is aimed at strengthening ties between Africa and the Caribbean and deepening cooperation between the two countries.
During bilateral talks on Wednesday, March 4, the two leaders signed several agreements to boost collaboration. These include a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Political Consultation Mechanism, a visa exemption agreement for holders of ordinary passports, and a bilateral labour agreement that will allow for the recruitment of Ghanaian medical professionals to work in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Following their discussions, President Mahama and Prime Minister Drew planted a symbolic “Tree of Life” in the Presidential Gardens at Jubilee House. The gesture was meant to represent the growing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Prime Minister Drew’s visit also includes participation in Ghana’s Independence Day (Ghana) celebrations on March 6. He is also scheduled to engage with students and faculty at the University of Ghana and visit several historical landmarks, including Cape Coast Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
Prime Minister Drew noted that his decision to visit Ghana was partly inspired by President Mahama’s address during the 80th United Nations General Assembly in September 2025, which highlighted stronger partnerships between Africa and the Caribbean.
