Tribe Culture Fest CEO Gives Kofi Adams 48 Hours to Retract US$611,000 Allegation

Tribe Culture Fest CEO Gives Kofi Adams

Tribe Culture Fest Chief Executive Officer Nana Boateng Gyimah has threatened legal action against Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams over allegations that he unlawfully collected US$611,000 and failed to refund it.

Through his lawyers, Gyimah is demanding a retraction and an unqualified public apology within 48 hours of receipt of their letter. Failure to comply, the letter warned, would lead to legal proceedings, including a claim for damages.

The dispute concerns visa processing, travel and hospitality arrangements associated with Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

During an appearance on TV3’s Hot Issues, Adams alleged that Gyimah was avoiding repayment of money collected from private individuals. He maintained that the Tribe Culture Fest boss could not retain the funds and called for criminal prosecution if investigations established fraud.

Gyimah rejected the allegations in a statement issued on Monday, October 12, challenging the minister to substantiate his claims.

According to Gyimah, he received no money from private individuals. He said Tribe Culture Fest’s contractual agreements were with the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Tourism Authority.

He demanded documentation identifying who allegedly made the payments, who received them, when the transactions occurred and how the US$611,000 figure was calculated.

Gyimah’s position is that the minister must either produce verifiable evidence supporting the allegations or withdraw them. His threatened defamation action seeks to protect his reputation and that of the organization.

The parties’ accounts remain disputed, with the allegation of unlawful collection denied by Gyimah.
