The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested Asando Asakiba and Beatrice Amegashie in connection with the alleged possession and trafficking of suspected narcotic substances.
The arrests followed the interception of a Toyota Voxy minibus at the Kasoa High Tension snap-checkpoint at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
According to police, officers searching the vehicle found several packages of suspected drugs in Asakiba’s possession.
The items included six parcels wrapped in yellow adhesive tape containing dried leaves and bearing the label “Green Gold”, two transparent zip-lock bags containing dried leaves, and another zip-lock bag holding a whitish substance.
Police said Asakiba, during questioning, claimed he was delivering the packages on behalf of another person.
He subsequently led investigators to Beatrice Amegashie, a resident of Ayikai Dobro near Amasaman, whom he identified as the alleged owner of the consignment. She was then arrested in connection with the case.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of the Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor.
The substances remain described as suspected narcotics, while the allegations against the two suspects are subject to further investigation.
