Two men sustained injuries after a HOWO diesel tanker veered off its route and crashed into a shop beneath a storey building at Asamankese in the Eastern Region.
The vehicle, bearing registration number LA 3243-25, was travelling from Suhum towards Kade when the driver lost control. The tanker struck the shop, causing partial damage to both the building’s shop section and the vehicle’s cab.
Preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) suggest that brake failure may have caused the crash. The findings remain preliminary, with the precise circumstances surrounding the incident yet to be fully established.
The shop was unoccupied when the collision occurred. No occupants of the building were reported trapped or injured, although the impact left part of the shop structure damaged.
The two injured men were evacuated from the scene and taken to hospital for treatment. Their identities, the extent of their injuries and their conditions were not provided.
