Two Killed, Seven Injured in Crash at Abor Junction

Two people have died and seven others sustained injuries in a road accident at Abor Junction on the Mankessim–Accra Highway.

The crash occurred during the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026, and involved a Toyota Voxy passenger vehicle with registration number AS 8911-25. The vehicle was extensively damaged in the accident.

The Mankessim Division of the Ghana National Fire Service received a distress call at approximately 1:44 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene at about 2:01 a.m. and worked with personnel from the National Ambulance Service to rescue the victims.

Emergency responders found nine occupants trapped inside the mangled vehicle. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, while seven other passengers suffered injuries of varying severity.

The injured victims, comprising five men and two women, received initial medical assistance before being transported to the Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim for emergency treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were subsequently conveyed to the Saltpond Government Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.

The driver of the Toyota Voxy escaped the crash without any physical injuries.

The cause of the accident was not immediately established, and the extent of the damage required emergency personnel to conduct a coordinated rescue operation at the scene.
