The suspects, who work as transport union station masters within the Madina municipality in the Greater Accra Region, were apprehended during an intelligence-led police operation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the pair borrowed GH¢91,000 from the complainant to finance transport-related ventures. After the loan became due and the creditor began demanding repayment, the suspects allegedly devised a plan to have him killed.
Police believe the two men contacted a third party to help them engage contract killers to carry out the alleged plot. Security officers, however, reportedly received actionable intelligence about the arrangement and intervened before the planned attack could take place.
The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting investigators as efforts continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
Police are expected to prepare charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, before arraigning the suspects in court.
The allegations against them have not yet been proven, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
