Vietnam has officially expanded its visa exemption program, allowing citizens from 38 countries and territories to enter the country without applying for a visa in advance.
The new policy is designed to encourage international tourism, strengthen economic connections, and make travel to Vietnam more convenient for visitors from around the world.
Eligible travelers holding ordinary passports can stay in Vietnam for periods ranging from 14 to 90 days, depending on their nationality.
Visa-Free Stay Periods by Country
Up to 90 Days
Citizens of the following countries are eligible for the longest visa-free stay:
- Chile
- Panama
Up to 45 Days
Travelers from the following countries can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days:
- Belarus
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Hungary
- Italy
- Japan
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Poland
- Romania
- Russia
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- South Korea
- Spain
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom (excluding British National Overseas — BNO passports)
The exemption for several European countries is part of Vietnam’s tourism expansion program, which has been extended through August 14, 2028. Other unilateral visa exemptions remain in effect through March 14, 2028.
Up to 30 Days
Citizens of these countries can stay in Vietnam for up to 30 days without a visa:
- Cambodia
- Indonesia
- Kazakhstan
- Kyrgyzstan
- Laos
- Malaysia
- Mongolia
- Myanmar
- Singapore
- Thailand
Up to 21 Days
- Philippines
Up to 14 Days
- Brunei
Entry Requirements for Visa-Free Travelers
Although eligible travelers do not need a visa before arrival, they must still meet Vietnam’s immigration requirements.
Valid Passport Required
Travelers must hold a passport that remains valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Vietnam.
Proof of Departure Required
Visitors may also be required to provide evidence of onward travel, such as:
- A confirmed return ticket
- A ticket showing travel to another destination after leaving Vietnam
