VIP Jeoun Bus Catches Fire at Abuakwa Station, No Casualties Recorded

VIP Bus
A VIP Jeoun commercial bus caught fire at the company’s station in Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The coach, with registration number GT 6770-18, was parked at the station and preparing for a scheduled nighttime journey to Accra when the fire broke out.

According to the management of VIP Jeoun, the bus conductor, Kwaku Apai, noticed smoke coming from the vehicle at about 6:45 p.m. He immediately disconnected the power supply and alerted the station supervisor.

The Ghana National Fire Service was subsequently called to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby vehicles and structures.

No passengers were aboard the coach when the fire started because boarding for the 9:30 p.m. journey had not commenced. No injuries or deaths were therefore recorded.

Management quickly arranged a replacement coach to transport the affected passengers to Accra, allowing the scheduled journey to proceed without significant disruption.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established. Authorities have launched an investigation and are working to remove the remains of the damaged coach from the station.

VIP Jeoun management has reassured passengers of its commitment to providing safe, reliable and comfortable transportation services.
