The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who participated in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates.
However, the results of nine candidates have been withheld after examiners detected suspected collusion during the marking of their scripts.
WAEC announced the release in a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs, John K. Kapi. According to the Council, the affected scripts will undergo further investigation before a final decision is taken.
A total of 2,987 candidates registered for the private examination across the country. The figure comprised 1,618 males and 1,369 females.
Of the total number of registered candidates, 101 were absent. The examination was conducted at designated centers in selected regional capitals.
WAEC said the provisional results have been uploaded to its official online portal, where candidates can access them using the required examination details.
Candidates whose results have been withheld have been advised to visit the WAEC Irregularities Platform for information about their cases.
Affected individuals are required to select the “withheld/cancelled” option on the platform’s homepage. They will then be redirected to an investigation page containing the reason their results were withheld and instructions on the next steps they must take.
WAEC urged candidates to rely only on its official platforms for information concerning their results and any ongoing examination-malpractice investigations.
