The Football Association of Zambia has ended its relationship with Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle by mutual agreement, bringing the Swiss tactician’s tenure to an early conclusion.
FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said the decision was reached after discussions between the association and Häuptle’s representatives. Both parties agreed that separating was in their best interests and would allow them to pursue their respective plans.
“After a meeting between FAZ and Häuptle’s representatives, it was agreed that in the interest of progress for both parties they had to separate,” Chakatazya said.
FAZ did not disclose the specific reasons behind the agreement.
Häuptle was appointed head coach of Zambia’s senior women’s national team on January 24, 2025, under a three-year contract. Her departure comes less than two years into the deal.
Before joining Zambia, the former Swiss international managed Ghana’s Black Queens and earned recognition for improving the team’s performances and competitiveness. She later took charge of a talented Copper Queens side containing several established international players.
Assistant coach Charles Haalubono has been placed in temporary charge of the national team. His appointment is intended to provide continuity as Zambia prepares for international assignments scheduled for the coming weeks.
Haalubono has previously worked with Zambia’s women’s youth teams and also serves as head coach of Green Buffaloes Women.
FAZ said it would announce the team’s long-term technical arrangements in due course. The association thanked Häuptle for her contribution to Zambian football and wished her success in her future professional engagements.
