The Accra High Court has ordered the freezing of five bank accounts and four landed properties linked to New Patriotic Party member Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
The asset preservation order was granted on Monday, August 3, 2026, following an application filed by the Economic and Organized Crime Office as part of an ongoing investigation.
The directive temporarily prevents transactions involving the affected bank accounts. It also prohibits the sale, transfer, lease, mortgage or disposal of the listed properties without further authorization from the court.
EOCO is investigating alleged financial and procurement irregularities valued at approximately GH¢55 million.
The transactions under investigation reportedly occurred during Aboagye’s tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization.
Asset preservation orders are generally intended to prevent funds or properties connected to an investigation from being transferred or disposed of before inquiries and any related legal proceedings are completed. Such orders do not, by themselves, amount to a finding of guilt.
The five affected bank accounts have been frozen, preventing withdrawals, transfers and other transactions while the investigation continues.
The real estate covered by the court order includes a seven-bedroom residential property and 15 acres of undeveloped land at Larteh-Akuapem in the Eastern Region.
The order also covers a two-bedroom house at Spintex and a residential apartment complex at Adjiringanor, both in Accra.
Aboagye has denied engaging in financial misconduct and maintains that his actions while serving at the committee were lawful and transparent.
The court has reportedly granted him bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties as EOCO continues its investigation.
The restrictions on the accounts and properties will remain in force subject to further orders from the High Court.
EOCO is expected to continue examining relevant financial records, procurement documents and other evidence connected to the alleged transactions. At this stage, the allegations against Aboagye remain unproven, and he is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
