The New Patriotic Party has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of Sylvester Amedza, its Deputy Secretary for the Banda Constituency in the Bono Region.
Amedza died only a few months after being elected to the constituency executive position, bringing an abrupt end to a political journey defined by student leadership and grassroots party organization.
Before entering constituency politics, Amedza was an active member of the Tertiary Students’ Confederacy, the student wing of the NPP.
He served as TESCON President at the Abetifi College of Education, where colleagues remember him for promoting the welfare of students and mobilizing young people to participate in party activities.
Amedza later expanded his involvement in public service by contesting the 2023 District Assembly elections. Although he was unsuccessful, he remained committed to community and party organization.
His continued involvement in local politics culminated in a successful campaign for the position of Banda Constituency Deputy Secretary earlier this year.
Party executives, youth organizers and other constituency members have since paid tribute to Amedza, describing him as disciplined, hardworking and dedicated to the NPP’s development.
They also praised his efforts to promote youth participation and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures in the Bono Region.
His death has left party members, former colleagues and supporters in shock, with many expressing condolences to his family and loved ones.
