John Boadu Urges NPP to Earn Voters’ Trust

Newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has urged party members to reject complacency and focus on earning the confidence of Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Delivering his acceptance speech in the early hours of Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Boadu pledged to lead through humility, consultation and cooperation across all sections of the party.

“Political victory is never an entitlement,” he said, stressing that electoral success requires service, credible leadership and effective organization.

Boadu said preparations for the next election must begin immediately, with the new executives concentrating on rebuilding the party’s structures and strengthening its relationship with voters.

He extended an invitation to his fellow contestants to work with the incoming leadership, emphasizing that their experience, ideas and networks remained valuable to the NPP. He called for members to put the contest behind them and unite around the party’s shared objectives.

The new chairman also outlined plans to strengthen constituency organizations, empower young members, support women and draw on the expertise of professionals. Engagement with traditional and religious leaders would form part of the rebuilding effort.

Boadu pledged to work closely with flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other party leaders to improve the NPP’s organisational and financial foundations, particularly at constituency level.

He urged members to place service and collective progress above personal ambition, saying his administration would consult widely and involve every section of the party in efforts to restore its electoral strength.

His appeal echoed Bawumia’s call for an inclusive campaign following the elections. In an October 4 statement, the flagbearer congratulated the new leadership and urged it to draw on the abilities of members across the party as preparations for 2028 begin.
