The Black Stars arrived in Philadelphia on Thursday evening ahead of their crucial Group L encounter against Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with a place in the Round of 32 at stake.

Ghana travelled from Providence, Rhode Island, where the team held a recovery session at Bryant University on Wednesday following their hard-fought 0-0 draw against the England national football team at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz and his squad checked into their team hotel upon arrival in Philadelphia and are scheduled to hold their final training session on Friday before taking on Croatia national football team at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, June 27, with kick-off set for 5:00 p.m.

The Black Stars are joint leaders of Group L alongside England with four points after recording one win and one draw from their opening two matches. A victory over Croatia will secure Ghana’s qualification for the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.

The team’s arrival in Philadelphia followed a morale-boosting visit from a high-level Ghanaian delegation in Rhode Island earlier on Thursday. The delegation, comprising Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and businessman Ibrahim Mahama, met with the players and technical team to offer their support ahead of the decisive fixture.

In the other Group L match, England will face Panama, with both fixtures expected to determine the final standings and the teams that advance to the Round of 32.
