Late Morocco Winner Denies 10-Man Black Starlets a Draw in Rabat

Ghana’s Black Starlets suffered a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Morocco after conceding with the final kick of their second international friendly in Rabat on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Morocco opened the scoring in the 11th minute following a poor clearance by Ghana’s goalkeeper. The Starlets created chances to respond, with Issah Alidu unable to convert three one-on-one opportunities before half-time.

Ghana’s task became harder in the 55th minute when captain Abdul Rafiu Issah was sent off for a strong tackle. Despite being reduced to 10 players, the visitors equalized through Yaw Acheampong’s free-kick in the 75th minute.

The Starlets then pushed for victory, with Gavi Robinho seeing an effort deflected behind for a corner. However, Morocco broke forward from the resulting set-piece and scored the decisive goal with the last kick.

The result meant both teams finished the two-match program with one victory each. Ghana had won the opening encounter 2-0 through goals from Hope Agbasi and Alidu Issah at the King Mohammed VI Football Complex.

The friendlies concluded Ghana’s international preparations for the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, which serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
