The Ghana Football Association has announced the immediate dismissal of Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars.
The decision follows a 2-1 loss to Germany in a pre-World Cup friendly on Monday, marking the team’s second consecutive defeat after an earlier loss to Austria. The back-to-back results intensified pressure on the coach, particularly with less than three months remaining until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Otto Addo, who was reappointed in 2024, had been tasked with preparing the national team for the tournament. However, after the disappointing performance against Germany, a high-level meeting involving the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Sports was held in Stuttgart, where the decision was taken to relieve him of his duties.
In an official statement, the Ghana Football Association expressed appreciation for his service, noting that it has parted ways with the coach with immediate effect and wished him success in his future endeavours.
