Absa Bank Ghana Commissions New Corporate Headquarters, Absa Place, in Accra

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang

Absa Bank Ghana has commissioned its new corporate headquarters, Absa Place, at 64 Independence Avenue in Accra’s Ridge financial district.

The new facility replaces the bank’s historic head office on High Street and marks a new phase in the bank’s operations following 109 years of presence in Ghana.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, September 25, 2026, brought together government officials, financial-sector stakeholders, Absa Group executives and representatives of the Bank of Ghana.

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was among the dignitaries who attended the event.

Modern Facility Designed for Efficiency

Absa Place has been designed as a modern corporate facility intended to support the bank’s growing operations while providing an enhanced environment for employees and customers.

The relocation from High Street to Ridge is expected to bring key corporate functions together and support more integrated operations.

The facility incorporates modern security infrastructure, digital customer-service systems and corporate spaces designed to support the bank’s retail, premier and prestige customer segments.

Focus on Sustainable Infrastructure

Sustainability is another major feature of the new headquarters.

Absa Place was designed to meet IFC EDGE Advanced green-building standards, reflecting the bank’s stated focus on energy efficiency and environmentally responsible infrastructure.

The building’s sustainability features are intended to improve resource efficiency while reducing the environmental impact associated with the operation of a large corporate facility.

Calls for Greater Support for Ghana’s Economy

The commissioning also provided an opportunity for government and financial-sector stakeholders to highlight the role banks can play in supporting economic growth.

During the ceremony, emphasis was placed on expanding financing to businesses and productive sectors of the economy, particularly enterprises capable of generating employment and supporting long-term economic activity.

There was also a call for greater access to financing for young entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses and high-growth startups.

Absa Reaffirms Commitment to Ghana

Absa Bank Ghana’s leadership said the investment in its new headquarters reflects the bank’s long-term commitment to the Ghanaian market.

Managing Director Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway emphasized the institution’s continued focus on supporting Ghana’s financial ecosystem and expanding its contribution to economic development.

The commissioning of Absa Place comes as the bank continues to reposition its operations around digital banking, customer experience and business financing.

For Absa Ghana, the new headquarters represents both a physical transformation of its corporate operations and a continuation of its long-standing presence in the country’s banking sector.
