A three-member delegation from the Eswatini National Petroleum Company (ENPC) has begun a study visit to Ghana to learn from the development and management of the country’s petroleum industry.
The delegation, led by ENPC Board Member Dumezweni Dlamini, is holding technical discussions with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), headed by Chief Executive Officer Kwame Ntow Amoah.
The visit is intended to support Eswatini’s efforts to strengthen the institutional and operational capacity of its national petroleum company as the kingdom develops its domestic energy sector.
Discussions with GNPC have examined the corporation’s evolution, including the separation of policymaking, commercial operations and regulatory responsibilities. The delegation is also studying Ghana’s experience with joint ventures, local content implementation and participation across the petroleum value chain.
Capacity building and workforce development are another key focus, with the Ghanaian side sharing lessons on preparing local professionals to manage complex upstream and downstream oil and gas operations.
The engagement follows earlier discussions between Eswatini Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and GNPC officials. Those talks provided high-level support for greater cooperation between the two countries’ petroleum institutions.
As part of the program, GNPC is expected to facilitate meetings between the ENPC delegation and other institutions involved in Ghana’s petroleum value chain.
Officials say the knowledge exchange could lead to a formal, long-term partnership between the two national oil companies and create opportunities for wider energy cooperation across Africa.
