The government of Ghana has settled a 700 million dollar Eurobond obligation as part of its debt servicing programme, the Ministry of Finance has announced.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said the payment was made on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
According to the ministry, the amount comprised 525.2 million dollars in principal repayments and 174.8 million dollars in interest payments.
It said Ghana has now paid a total of 2.1 billion dollars to Eurobond holders since January 2025 under the terms of the country’s Eurobond Debt Exchange Programme.
The ministry said the latest payment was made through the government’s planned financing arrangements without placing pressure on Ghana’s foreign exchange reserves.
It added that the settlement would reduce the country’s outstanding Eurobond debt, strengthen investor confidence and demonstrate the government’s commitment to prudent debt management and macroeconomic stability.
The ministry said it would continue to implement sound public financial management practices to ensure the timely servicing of Ghana’s debt obligations.
It also thanked Ghanaians for their continued patience, support and confidence.
