Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced a three-night concert residency at the newly renovated National Theatre in Lagos, describing the event as an opportunity to demonstrate Africa’s ability to host world-class entertainment productions.
Titled Oriadé: The Residency, the concert series will take place from December 17 to 19, 2026, during Nigeria’s popular year-end “Detty December” entertainment season.
The residency will also celebrate Davido’s 15th anniversary in the music industry and mark a major homecoming for the singer following an extensive continental tour.
Speaking about the event, Davido said he wants the international music community to recognise that African artists can stage premium, multi-night concerts on the continent instead of depending exclusively on venues in Europe and North America.
He compared the refurbished National Theatre to internationally recognised venues such as New York’s Madison Square Garden, saying the Lagos landmark has the potential to become a leading destination for major performances.
Originally constructed ahead of the FESTAC ’77 festival, the National Theatre has undergone extensive renovation intended to restore its position as one of Nigeria’s most important cultural and entertainment centres.
Davido said staging the residency at the venue carries cultural and economic significance because major concerts can generate revenue for hotels, restaurants, transportation providers and other businesses.
The singer cited Bad Bunny’s multi-date concert run in Puerto Rico as an example of how a major entertainer can attract visitors, celebrate local culture and stimulate the domestic economy.
Each of the three nights is expected to highlight different stages of Davido’s 15-year career, combining some of his biggest hits with songs from his latest 13-track album, Oriadé.
The performances will serve as the first major live showcase for tracks from the album. Special guests and collaborators are also expected to appear during the residency, with possible performers including Black Sherif, Mayorkun, Leon Thomas, FOLA and Aya Nakamura.
Davido said the concerts would provide a world-class production while keeping the economic and cultural benefits within Nigeria.
Presale tickets will initially be available to members of Davido’s 30BG fan community. General ticket sales are scheduled to begin on September 25, 2026.
