Award-winning Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has announced that she is entering a new chapter of her life dedicated to Christian ministry and preaching the gospel.
The 38-year-old Yoruba film star shared the news through a series of social media posts, revealing that she believes she has been called by God to begin a new phase of active ministry.
Her announcement has generated widespread reactions from fans, colleagues and followers, many of whom have expressed support for her decision.
Odetola Addresses Concerns Over Her Recent Posts
Before making her announcement, Odetola’s increasingly spiritual social media posts had attracted attention from people close to her, with some reportedly concerned that she might be experiencing personal difficulties.
The actress moved to reassure them that there was no cause for alarm.
She explained that although something significant was happening in her life, it was not a personal crisis or indication that something was wrong with her.
Odetola said she had come to understand her experience as a divine calling and felt compelled to respond to it.
According to her, people may delay responding to a calling from God, but ultimately cannot escape it.

Why She Chose to Make the Announcement Public
Odetola also revealed that she initially considered keeping her spiritual journey private.
However, she eventually decided to publicly announce her new direction rather than allow others to define or announce it for her.
She explained that preaching the gospel is inherently a public activity and suggested that it would be difficult to keep such a calling completely private.
The actress said she preferred to introduce the new chapter herself rather than have someone record her preaching publicly and share the footage without context.
A Successful Career in Nollywood
Before announcing her move into ministry, Odetola built a notable career in the Yoruba-language film industry.
She has appeared in numerous film and television productions and has received recognition for her performances.
Her achievements include AMVCA recognition for Binta Ofege and Somewhere in the Dark, as well as a Best Actress award at the 2017 Best of Nollywood Awards.
Beyond acting, Odetola has also participated in academic and educational engagements, including serving as a guest lecturer at Ajayi Crowther University.
A New Chapter
While Odetola’s announcement marks a new direction in her public life, she has not indicated that her previous career and accomplishments in the entertainment industry will be erased by the transition.
Instead, her latest statements point to a new focus on Christian ministry and sharing the gospel.
Her decision has since become a major talking point among her fans and colleagues, with many following closely as the actress begins what she describes as a new chapter in her life.
