Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku-Pitcher, has called for greater investment in professional training to help Ghanaian creatives compete internationally.

Speaking as the guest of honor at the official launch of the Revele Creative Academy, she stressed that natural ability must be supported by technical knowledge, professional discipline and industry experience.

“Talent alone is not enough. We need trained talent,” she said.

Danku-Pitcher highlighted skills development as an essential part of building a competitive creative economy, with structured training helping practitioners turn their abilities into work that meets international standards.

The Revele Creative Academy was established by Revele Film and Television Productions in partnership with the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB). The collaboration aims to provide practical, industry-focused education for emerging creative professionals.

Executive Director of the academy, Julia Apea, said the institution would draw on Revele Films’ 25 years of experience in filmmaking and media arts to train and mentor a new generation of practitioners.

Its curriculum covers screenwriting, directing and production, alongside emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. The approach is intended to prepare students for both established filmmaking practices and changes in how creative content is developed and produced.

By combining academic collaboration with practical industry experience, the academy seeks to strengthen the connection between classroom learning and the demands of professional creative work.

Danku-Pitcher reaffirmed the National Film Authority’s support for the initiative, emphasizing that Ghana’s ability to tell compelling stories to global audiences depends on the professional readiness of its creators.

Her remarks placed training at the center of efforts to develop the country’s entertainment industry, with institutions such as the Revele Creative Academy expected to help emerging talent acquire the skills needed to build sustainable careers.
