Nollywood actor and filmmaker Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has explained why actress Funke Akindele did not attend the Lagos premiere of his new film, Star Lomo.
Akindele’s absence from the event, held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, generated widespread discussion on social media. Some fans questioned why the actress was not present to support Kamo State, who has actively participated in promotional campaigns for some of her previous films.
Others speculated that a disagreement may have developed between the two entertainers after they appeared together less frequently during the early months of 2026.
Addressing the speculation on Monday, Kamo State said Akindele missed the premiere because she was outside Nigeria. He dismissed suggestions of a dispute and assured fans that they remain on good terms.
Akindele was reportedly in Ghana on a staycation with Nigerian singer Waje, who is part of the cast of her forthcoming production, The Four.
Kamo State described Akindele as his mentor and said she continues to support him and the release of Star Lomo. He also urged social media users not to allow unverified rumours to interfere with their relationship.
Despite missing the premiere, Akindele appears in the film alongside Odunlade Adekola and Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, widely known as KieKie.
Directed by Kayode Kasum, Star Lomo is scheduled for nationwide cinema release on September 25, 2026.
