Nigerian Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel has disclosed that he stepped away from music to mourn his mother, explaining the personal loss behind his recent absence from the spotlight.
The singer made the revelation on Friday, September 25, 2026, while responding to a fan on X who suggested that he had been occupied with preparations for a new album.
“I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year,” he wrote.
Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, did not disclose when his mother died or the circumstances surrounding her death.
He said he remained determined to move forward for his family despite the bereavement. He also apologized to supporters for returning later in the year than they had expected.
The disclosure provided an explanation for the quieter period in the career of the singer, whose catalogue includes Buga, Woju and Twe Twe. His response corrected the assumption that the break was connected to an album rollout.
The artiste has previously spoken publicly about bereavement within his family, revealing in 2025 that his wife had lost her mother the previous year.
In his latest message, he emphasized his responsibility to the relatives still around him as a reason to continue moving forward.
