LilWin Says Outstanding Payments to Nollywood Stars Are Giving Him Sleepless Nights

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, says the financial demands of his upcoming film, Journey to Africa, are affecting his sleep as he works to settle outstanding payments to its Nigerian cast.

In a video shared online, the Kumawood actor revealed that concerns about the balances sometimes follow him into his dreams, including encounters in which veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo appears to demand payment.

“I didn’t sleep yesterday. I woke up around 2 AM. I was dreaming, and they were demanding their balance,” he said.

LilWin also dismissed suggestions that he has enough personal wealth to comfortably finance the entire production. In a humorous remark, he said a review of his bank accounts by the Economic and Organized Crime Office could leave officials sympathizing with him and offering financial assistance.

His comments concerned his own anxiety about meeting the production’s financial obligations. He did not disclose the outstanding amounts or when the payments were due.

The film features Nigerian actors Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Zubby Michael, Mike Ezuruonye, Destiny Etiko and Charles Awurum. The visiting stars arrived in Ghana on September 30 for filming, with production expected to continue in Nzulezu after initial scenes in Accra.

The project follows A Country Called Ghana, another LilWin production involving Nollywood performers. He previously said he paid Ramsey Nouah $40,000 for his role in that film.

Despite the financial pressure, LilWin has defended his decision to recruit Nigerian actors, citing their responsiveness to scripts and their ability to attract audiences beyond Ghana. He said some responded within an hour, while certain Ghanaian actors he approached took considerably longer.
