Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has announced that his feature film, A Country Called Ghana, is now available on Ethiopian Airlines’ in-flight entertainment platform.

The distribution deal will allow passengers travelling across the airline’s extensive international network to watch the film during their journeys. The arrangement is expected to introduce Ghanaian storytelling and cinema to audiences from different parts of the world.

Directed by Frank Fiifi Gharbin, also known as Director One, the film was executive-produced by LilWin under his Weezy Empire production company.

A Country Called Ghana features a collaborative cast drawn from the Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries. Nollywood actors Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum and Victor Osuagwu appear in the production alongside Ghanaian performers, including veteran actor Paa George.

LilWin celebrated the development on social media, describing it as an important milestone in his efforts to take Ghanaian cinema beyond local and regional markets.

The addition of the film to Ethiopian Airlines’ entertainment catalogue provides another international distribution channel for the production while giving passengers an opportunity to experience Ghanaian culture, history and creative talent.

The development also highlights the growing importance of alternative distribution platforms for African filmmakers, particularly as producers seek to overcome challenges associated with domestic cinema access and traditional release channels.

Ethiopian Airlines operates one of Africa’s largest and most connected aviation networks, giving the film the potential to reach a broad international audience.

The achievement marks another step in LilWin’s campaign to expand the global visibility of Ghana’s film industry and promote locally produced stories on major international platforms.
