Veteran Nigerian actor and filmmaker Ramsey Nouah has shared his impressions of Ghana’s two largest cities, describing Kumasi as a hardworking commercial center similar to Lagos and comparing Accra’s lifestyle to that of Abuja.
Nouah made the observations during a visit to Kumasi in August 2026, where he was working on an upcoming film produced by Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, the award-winning actor said the atmosphere in Kumasi reminded him of Lagos because of its strong entrepreneurial culture and the determined attitude of its residents.
According to Nouah, Kumasi appears to be a city populated by people focused on business, work and building opportunities for themselves.
“Kumasi is for hustlers, entrepreneurs and all those things,” he observed while describing the energy he encountered in the Ashanti regional capital.
He praised the people he met in the city as hardworking, practical and grounded. Nouah said their approach to daily life and social interaction gave Kumasi a distinct identity that separated it from Accra.
The actor contrasted Kumasi’s fast-moving commercial atmosphere with what he described as a more comfortable and high-society lifestyle in Ghana’s capital.
Nouah compared Accra to Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, suggesting that both cities project an image of wealth, influence and leisure. In his assessment, residents of such capitals often appear to have already achieved financial success and are more interested in enjoying their wealth.
He described Accra as a place where people appear to be “enjoying the big money and acting like they are the big boys.”
His comparison reflected his personal experience of the cities rather than an economic assessment of their residents. Both Accra and Kumasi are major centers of commerce, entertainment and culture, but they are widely recognized for their different social rhythms and urban identities.
Accra is Ghana’s political and administrative capital and hosts many government institutions, diplomatic missions, multinational companies and entertainment venues. Kumasi, meanwhile, is an important trading and cultural center with a strong concentration of entrepreneurs, artisans and locally owned businesses.
Nouah ultimately expressed admiration for Kumasi and its residents, describing the people as more “down-to-earth” based on his interactions during the visit.
His presence in Kumasi also generated excitement among movie fans, particularly because of his collaboration with Lil Win. The project brings together one of Nollywood’s most recognizable actors and a leading figure in Ghana’s Kumawood film industry.
Further details about the production, including its title, storyline, supporting cast and official release date, were not immediately announced.
Nouah has enjoyed a successful acting career spanning several decades and remains one of the most recognizable personalities in African cinema. His involvement in the Ghanaian production reflects the continuing creative relationship between the Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries.
