Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been transferred to the Special Housing Unit at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey following allegations that he received preferential treatment and accessed contraband while serving his federal prison sentence.
NBC News reported the move, citing a source familiar with the situation. The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly confirmed the details of his confinement, citing privacy and security concerns.
The development follows an NBC investigation in which former inmates alleged that Combs paid other prisoners to prepare meals, wash his clothes, clean his surroundings and provide massages.
The report also alleged that he had access to a prohibited cellphone, a modified tablet, premium liquor and medication obtained from fellow inmates. These claims have not been publicly substantiated by prison authorities.
A representative for Combs disputed the portrayal of his prison life and maintained that he was following institutional rules. His spokesperson also questioned how information and recordings from inside the facility had reached the media.
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence after his July 2025 conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges.
His legal team is appealing the convictions. Reports place his projected release in January 2028, although prison release dates can change.
