Speed Darlington Threatens Burna Boy, Calls for Boxing Showdown

Speed Darlington Threatens Burna Boy

Nigerian rapper and internet personality Speed Darlington has threatened to physically confront Burna Boy if they meet, signaling that his dispute with the Grammy-winning musician remains unresolved.

During appearances on Yanga FM Lagos and Nevo Media, Darlington, popularly known as Akpi, expressed anger over his previous detention and described the pair as “enemies for life”.

“Me and Burna Boy have no relationship. If Burna Boy enters any room that I am present in, I will fight and jump on him,” he said.

The rapper also challenged Burna Boy to a formal boxing match, saying he wanted an opportunity to release the anger he had been harboring.

Their feud escalated after Darlington made controversial comments about Burna Boy’s Grammy success and referenced unverified allegations involving American music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs. Those comments led to a complaint alleging defamation and cyberstalking, followed by Darlington’s arrest and detention.

Darlington said he remained bitter about his incarceration and was unwilling to forgive what had happened.

The dispute intensified further after his defeat to street-hop artiste Portable in a celebrity boxing contest. Burna Boy reportedly gave Portable ₦20 million following the victory.

Darlington’s latest remarks come ahead of his scheduled bout against comedian and content creator Carter Efe on October 1, 2026, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.

The fight forms part of the “Chaos in the Ring” celebrity boxing series. Darlington said he wanted organizers to arrange a subsequent contest against Burna Boy after his encounter with Carter Efe.

No agreement for a fight between the two musicians has been announced, and Burna Boy had not publicly responded to the latest threats at the time of the reports.
