Ghanaian travel vlogger Wode Maya has opened up about the role Shatta Wale’s music played in his relationship with his Kenyan wife and fellow content creator, Miss Trudy.
Speaking with George Quaye on Joy Prime’s Prime Time, he recalled meeting Miss Trudy when he had little financial security but remained confident about his future. He said he was honest about his circumstances and asked her to believe in his ambitions.
“Listen, I don’t have anything right now, but believe me, we’re going to make it,” he recalled telling her.
According to Wode Maya, her willingness to support him during that uncertain period strengthened their bond. Shatta Wale’s music subsequently became a way of expressing his gratitude and commitment to her.
He also recalled developing a strong attachment to “Freedom,” which he listened to daily as his admiration for the dancehall musician grew. The song became associated with a memorable period in their relationship.
Shatta Wale’s songs have remained part of the couple’s everyday life, featuring during car journeys and at home, according to an interview.
The musician’s influence on Wode Maya extends beyond romance. In an earlier interview reported in October 2025, the vlogger credited “My Level” with encouraging him through financial difficulties, the loss of his father and the responsibility of caring for his mother.
He said the song’s message of hope helped him remain focused during a difficult chapter, describing Shatta Wale as his favorite musician and praising his resilience.
