The Ghana Physician Assistants Association (GPAA) has launched a free health screening exercise in Techiman to make primary healthcare more accessible to residents and workers.
The outreach, running from October 26 to October 31, 2026, brings health services into the community, particularly for people whose work schedules and daily commitments make it difficult to visit hospitals for routine checks.
Screening is taking place at the forecourt of Bonokyempem Hall, the Techiman Central Market, the Regional Coordinating Council and the forecourt of the National Health Insurance Scheme office.
Residents and workers can visit these locations for basic health assessments, general consultations and preventive care. The exercise aims to help participants better understand their health needs and seek further attention where necessary.
The initiative forms part of activities marking the GPAA’s 23rd Annual General Conference, held under the theme, “From Policy to Practice: Positioning the Physician Assistant to Deliver Comprehensive Free Primary Healthcare at the Community Level.”
The outreach puts the conference’s focus into practice by taking services to places where people work and conduct their daily activities. It also highlights the role of physician assistants in expanding access to community-based healthcare.
Through the exercise, the association seeks to reduce barriers to routine health checks and strengthen preventive care among people who might otherwise postpone seeking medical attention.
