Bolt Driver Jailed 25 Years for Robbing Passenger in Cutlass Attack

The Adenta Circuit Court has sentenced Emmanuel Kofi Mensah, a 22-year-old mechanic and Bolt driver, to 25 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbing a passenger.

Presiding judge Angela Attachie convicted Mensah after he pleaded guilty to robbery.

Prosecutor Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo told the court that Yvonne Dzane Dzifa hired Mensah on September 23, 2026, to travel from Madina Zongo Junction to Adenta.

Instead of stopping at Adenta Barrier, Mensah locked the doors and drove to Mantey Farms. There, he attacked Dzifa with a cutlass, injuring her wrist and little finger before taking her handbag.

The bag contained an iPhone 17 Pro Max valued at GH¢18,000, an iPhone 12 worth GH¢3,500 and GH¢3,200 cash.

Dzifa escaped over a nearby fence and later received treatment at Pantang Government Hospital.

Mensah was arrested the next day while attempting to sell the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The shopkeeper recognised Dzifa’s photograph on the device and became suspicious.

Police recovered a concealed cutlass from Mensah, who subsequently admitted the offence. Investigations continue to identify an alleged accomplice who reportedly arrived at the scene on a motorbike.
