Ghana international Antoine Semenyo delivered another productive performance for Manchester City as they secured an emphatic 4–1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Semenyo completed the full 90 minutes and provided the assist for Erling Haaland’s opening goal in the 17th minute. The result gave City their second consecutive league victory of the 2026/27 season.
Semenyo Sets Up Opening Goal
Crystal Palace started energetically and created an early opportunity through Eddie Nketiah, whose effort was pushed away by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Manchester City gradually took control and broke the deadlock after 17 minutes through a combination involving Semenyo and Haaland.
The Ghanaian international found space on the flank before delivering an accurate curling cross into the Palace penalty area. Haaland drifted behind the defence and directed a looping header beyond goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
It was Semenyo’s most significant contribution of the match and underlined his growing understanding with City’s leading striker.
The former Bournemouth forward nearly added his name to the scoresheet in the 38th minute. After finding space inside the penalty area, he fired a left-footed shot that took a deflection, forcing Henderson to make a sharp save.
Cherki Double Takes Game Away From Palace
City entered half-time with a narrow 1–0 advantage but assumed complete control after the interval.
Rayan Cherki doubled the visitors’ lead in the 54th minute following an impressive individual move. The French international carried the ball between several defenders before producing a composed finish.
Palace responded two minutes later through a powerful Yeremy Pino free kick. His effort struck the crossbar before rebounding off Donnarumma and crossing the line, resulting in an own goal against the City goalkeeper.
Any hopes of a Palace comeback were quickly extinguished in the 59th minute when Cherki struck again. His deflected effort beat Henderson and restored Manchester City’s two-goal advantage.
Haaland Completes Comfortable Victory
Haaland sealed the result in the 84th minute after receiving a pass from Phil Foden. The Norwegian striker finished with his left foot to complete his brace and confirm City’s 4–1 victory.
Haaland and Cherki accounted for all four City goals, but Semenyo played an important supporting role through his direct running, accurate passing and delivery from wide areas.
Manchester City dominated possession and recorded 18 attempts, including nine on target, while Palace managed only one effort on target from nine attempts.
Semenyo Produces Efficient Display
Semenyo completed 44 of his 46 attempted passes, giving him a passing accuracy of 95.7 per cent.
