DataPro Limited will hold its sixth International Rating Webinar on October 8, 2026, bringing together researchers and financial experts to discuss how African countries can strengthen their sovereign credit ratings.
The free online event, themed “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status,” is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. West Africa Time. Discussions will cover fiscal sustainability, debt management, economic reforms and the way global rating practices affect African economies’ access to finance.
DataPro said Nigeria’s recent rating upgrade helped shape this year’s agenda. In May, S&P Global Ratings raised the country’s long-term sovereign rating from B- to B, citing an improving economic profile. The higher rating remains below investment grade, making the webinar’s focus the further reforms needed to strengthen creditworthiness over time.
DataPro Chief Rating Officer Oladele Adeoye will moderate a panel featuring Misheck Mutize of the African Peer Review Mechanism; Daniel Cash, founder of the Credit Rating Research Initiative; Oluwakemi Babalogbon of Ministry of Finance Incorporated; Kai Gehring of the University of Bern; and Torsten Schmidt of RWI in Essen.
