The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed a power outage affecting parts of Aplaku in the Greater Accra Region to a broken high-tension electricity pole.
In a public notice issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the company’s Accra West Region said the damaged infrastructure had interrupted electricity supply to several communities and facilities within its operational area.
Affected locations include Old Aplaku township, Aplaku Israel, Aplaku School for the Deaf and Aplaku Clinic. The disruption also extends to adjoining communities served by the affected infrastructure.
ECG said its engineers were working to resolve the fault and restore supply to customers. At the time of the notice, the company had not provided a specific completion time for the repairs.
The electricity distributor apologized for the inconvenience caused to residents and other customers, assuring them that efforts were underway to address the problem.
Although ECG identified the broken pole as the source of the outage, the notice did not explain what caused the damage. It also did not state how many customers had been affected or how long the disruption had lasted.
The company’s announcement confirmed that repair work was underway, but did not indicate that electricity had yet been restored to the affected areas.
