Swansea City extended their unbeaten start to the EFL Championship season with an impressive 3–0 victory over Derby County at Pride Park.
Joseph Opoku, Eom Ji-sung and Ronald found the net for the visitors, who delivered a clinical performance to secure their second victory in three league matches.
Swansea made a dream start when summer signing Opoku opened the scoring inside the opening 90 seconds. The forward converted Eom’s assist to register his second league goal of the campaign and immediately place Derby under pressure.
Opoku’s promising afternoon was cut short in the 24th minute after he sustained an apparent injury. He was unable to continue and was replaced by Moussa Kounfolo Yeo, leaving Swansea concerned about the extent of the problem.
Despite losing their early goalscorer, the visitors remained in control and doubled their advantage shortly before halftime. Eom reacted quickest after an initial attempt was saved, converting the rebound from close range in the 44th minute.
Derby attempted to respond after the interval but struggled to create clear scoring opportunities against a disciplined Swansea defense. The hosts recorded an expected-goals figure of just 0.59, compared with Swansea’s commanding 3.33.
The visitors completed the scoring one minute into second-half stoppage time. Brazilian winger Ronald converted a pass from debutant Stephen Eustáquio to seal a convincing away victory.
Derby’s Sondre Langås, Dion Sanderson and Lewis Travis received yellow cards during the contest, while Swansea’s Marko Stamenić and Mads Juel Andersen Just were also booked.
The result lifts Swansea City into third place in the Championship table with seven points from their opening three matches. Derby County, meanwhile, remain without a league victory and have collected two points at the start of the campaign.
Swansea’s dominant performance strengthens their encouraging early-season momentum, although Opoku’s injury will be a concern after the summer arrival made another important contribution in front of goal.
