Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes the return of Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku will significantly improve the Black Stars as the team continues its campaign in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Agyemang-Badu said the two players would provide greater stability, experience and creativity after missing Ghana’s opening qualification matches in September 2026 because of fitness concerns.
Djiku was unavailable after sustaining a hamstring injury during a club match in late August, leaving the Black Stars without one of their most experienced central defenders.
Kudus also missed the international window due to a minor fitness problem. His absence deprived Ghana of an important creative presence capable of carrying the ball, breaking defensive lines and producing opportunities in the final third.
Reflecting on the opening matches, Agyemang-Badu said the Black Stars lacked defensive leadership and smooth transitions from midfield into attack.
“Kudus brings a level of dynamism and unpredictability in the final third that opens up spaces for everyone else, while Djiku gives us that aggressive, commanding presence at the back,” he said.
The former midfielder expressed confidence that their return would strengthen the team ahead of its crucial October 2026 double-header.
He also urged the technical team to prioritize tactical cohesion and ensure both players are properly reintegrated into the squad.
Ghana will be seeking improved performances and positive results in the next qualification window as the Black Stars pursue a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
