The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has reported himself to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following a High Court warrant for his arrest.
The MP arrived at the EOCO office with his lawyer, Samuel Atta Kyea, and some Members of Parliament.
His decision to report himself follows a High Court order issued on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, authorising EOCO to arrest him.
EOCO had told the Court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance for questioning.
The agency subsequently sought a warrant after an earlier invitation to the MP and an attempted arrest resulted in a confrontation at the premises of the Accra High Court.
Among the MPs who accompanied Baffour Awuah to the EOCO office were Kofi Amankwah Manu, Subin MP Obiri Yeboah, and former Deputy Attorney-General Joseph Kpemka.
The details of the investigation are expected to become clearer as the MP engages with EOCO.
Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has disclosed that Baffour Awuah is being investigated over alleged unauthorised financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Dr Srem-Sai said the investigation relates to suspected offences including financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering.
The allegations remain subject to investigation and any further legal proceedings.
