Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 10 suspected drug offenders following a coordinated intelligence-led operation targeting suspected narcotics hotspots across Cape Coast in the Central Region.
The operation, conducted on Thursday, July 9, 2026, forms part of NACOC’s broader nationwide campaign aimed at disrupting illegal drug networks, reducing substance abuse, and improving public safety.
Officials said the raids were carried out simultaneously across several communities identified as areas of concern for drug-related activities.
Raids Target Key Areas in Cape Coast
NACOC enforcement teams conducted the operations in strategic locations considered vulnerable to narcotics distribution and abuse.
The targeted areas included:
- Pedu
- Victoria Road
- Downtown Cape Coast
- Communities surrounding the University of Cape Coast (UCC)
Authorities said the locations were selected based on intelligence gathered through ongoing monitoring and investigations into suspected drug activities.
Ten Suspects Arrested
The operation led to the arrest of 10 individuals suspected of involvement in illegal narcotics-related activities.
The suspects include both men and women, with their ages ranging from 24 to 55 years.
NACOC officials said the arrests represent part of continued efforts to identify and dismantle groups involved in the sale, distribution, and use of prohibited substances.
Narcotics Exhibits Seized
During the raids, officers recovered various items and substances suspected to be connected to illegal drug operations.
All recovered exhibits have been documented, secured, and transferred for forensic laboratory analysis to determine their composition and provide evidence for possible prosecution.
The Commission said the examination process will support ongoing investigations and help establish the full extent of the alleged offences.
Suspects Assist With Investigations
The arrested individuals remain in state custody and are assisting NACOC officials with further inquiries.
Authorities indicated that the suspects will be processed and presented before the court after investigations are completed, in line with Ghana’s legal procedures.

The Cape Coast operation highlights NACOC’s intensified enforcement efforts to combat the trafficking and distribution of illegal substances, particularly in communities near schools, universities, and busy commercial areas.
The Commission has encouraged members of the public to continue providing credible information through official reporting channels to assist authorities in identifying drug networks and preventing the spread of narcotics-related activities.
NACOC said community cooperation remains critical in strengthening enforcement efforts and protecting young people from the dangers associated with illicit drug use.
