A 30-year-old commercial tricycle operator, identified as Akolbila Blessings, has reportedly died after being assaulted over an alleged GH¢1,500 sales deficit in the Upper East Region.
The deceased, popularly known as “Jah Bless,” operated a commercial tricycle, commonly called a pragia, at Dulugo in the Bolgatanga East District.
According to local reports, the incident stemmed from a disagreement over GH¢1,500 in sales revenue that Akolbila was allegedly expected to account for to the tricycle’s owner or management.
The dispute reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation during which the 30-year-old driver was severely assaulted. He is said to have sustained serious injuries that ultimately led to his death.
The precise circumstances surrounding the assault, including the identities and number of people allegedly involved, have not yet been independently established.
The incident has generated concern among residents and commercial transport operators in the area, with calls for a thorough investigation to determine what happened and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
