The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, met with King Charles III during the 2026 Commonwealth Day celebrations held in London. The meeting took place during the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey. The event was organized under the theme “Unlocking opportunities for a prosperous Commonwealth through collaboration,” bringing together leaders, diplomats, and traditional rulers from across the Commonwealth.

The encounter marked the first face-to-face meeting between the Ga Mantse and the British monarch and was seen as an important moment for cultural diplomacy and international engagement for the Ga State and Ghana.

Several prominent figures attended the ceremony, including Queen Camilla, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, and Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Also present was Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sabah Zita Benson.

The Ga Mantse’s participation in the event aimed to highlight the cultural heritage and global presence of the Ga people while strengthening ties between traditional leadership and international institutions.

Discussions and interactions during the gathering focused on strengthening cultural diplomacy between the Ga State and Buckingham Palace, exploring opportunities for partnerships in heritage preservation, youth development, and community empowerment.

The meeting also reinforced historical and cultural connections among West African traditional kingdoms, particularly through the interaction between the Ga Mantse and the Olu of Warri, highlighting the shared heritage and regional ties that continue to shape cooperation across the region.
