The U.S. Embassy in Ghana has announced an online public auction of surplus U.S. government property, giving members of the public an opportunity to bid on a range of used vehicles, office furniture, and equipment.
The auction will be conducted entirely online, with bidding scheduled to open on Monday, July 6, 2026, and close on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
The initiative forms part of the embassy’s routine disposal process for surplus government assets that are no longer required for official operations.
Bidding Opens July 6
According to the embassy, the online auction will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, and remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Interested bidders will be able to submit their offers through the official U.S. government online auction platform, where detailed information about each item, including descriptions and bidding instructions, will be available.
The auction is open to eligible members of the public who wish to purchase government surplus property through a transparent competitive bidding process.
Vehicles, Furniture and Equipment Available
A variety of surplus items are expected to be offered during the auction, including:
- Used government vehicles
- Office furniture
- Office and administrative equipment
- Other surplus government assets
The embassy noted that all items are being sold in their current condition, and prospective buyers are encouraged to carefully review the available information before placing bids.
Public Inspection Held in Accra
To allow potential buyers to assess the condition of the items, the U.S. Embassy organized public inspection sessions on July 1 and July 2, 2026.
The inspections took place at the embassy’s premises in Accra, near the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, where visitors were able to examine the vehicles and other auction items before the bidding period begins.
Providing advance inspection opportunities is intended to help bidders make informed purchasing decisions.

The embassy said conducting the auction online is designed to improve accessibility, fairness, and transparency by allowing interested participants to compete openly regardless of their location.
