A woman believed to be in her twenties was found dead at Akweley Peace Town in Kasoa, within the Awutu Senya East Municipality, on Sunday morning, October 4, 2026.
Residents discovered her body suspended from a tree and alerted police. Officers subsequently conveyed the body to a mortuary, with investigations expected to establish the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Some residents reported hearing screams around midnight but said they did not investigate the sounds at the time. It remains unclear whether those sounds were connected to the woman’s death.
Local accounts also suggested that she may have visited the community with a group attending a one-week funeral observance. That account has not been independently confirmed.
Residents have raised suspicions of foul play, including possible sexual assault, but these allegations remain unverified. No confirmed findings have established whether the death resulted from a crime or another cause.
